Whidbey Island Wedding: John + Alex

When corona virus first struck Washington back in spring, John and Alex weren’t too worried - they know they wanted to get married in a very intimate ceremony at John’s family home on Whidbey Island anyway. One wrench in the cogwheels however, was that John’s sister Hannah (one of my BFFs!) was stuck in Miami, and she was supposed to be officiating. No problem, they just popped her on a zoom call and she officiated from across the country! Its amazing to me what technology has made possible in this crazy pandemic season. Just last Tuesday, some of the guests present at a wedding I was shooting were Skyping in from New Zealand, and Australia the Saturday before that. Technology can be a huge pain in the A, but to have your loved ones present (even virtually!) adds a little extra bit of humanity to this wild wild world.
